Biography

"As a board-certified small animal surgeon and sport medicine and rehabilitation specialist, my job revolves around the needs of the small animal hospital.  Clinical medicine and surgery gives me the opportunity to teach veterinary students, mentor house officers and practice collaboration with colleagues at TAMU CVM.  I am passionate about solving routine and complex surgical problems, while finding unique and meaningful ways to instruct students and hopefully prepare them for a fulfilling career in veterinary medicine.  The environment at TAMU CVM is a constant source of opportunity to raise the standard of care of the veterinary patient and I try to serve a role as one who supports clinical research and the spirit of collaboration.  It is only with this attitude that we can continue to make extraordinary progress and develop better techniques for veterinary teaching, research and clinical practices."

Surgical Rotation Instructor

My teaching duties and assignments include a 70% time devoted to clinical duty. This time is spent teaching during surgical rotations to the fourth-year students, interns, and residents. Also, I lecture and teach in labs to the 2nd and 3rd year students. These lectures and labs teach basic surgical skills, as well as elective and advanced soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. I have also lectured to the 1st year students about communication techniques.
