We’re So Close

As we finish the last week of full classes and approach the beginning of exams, I can only help but think, “Where did the time go?” This semester has been a whirlwind of classes, studying, and more classes. When I look back on it, I can’t even believe that it is almost over.

I started the semester so excited for everything that I was going to have the opportunity to do—and it has all been great, but it has flown by. For the past few weeks, I have been shadowing at a local equine hospital. I go once a week, and it has been a great experience with large animals. It’s crazy to think that I only have two more times to go there this semester. I have already been six times. It went by so quickly!

As I talk to my friends about their semesters, they are also feeling blindsided by how quickly it all went by. I just want to be able to stay here, hang out with them, and make those memories that you will remember for the rest of your life. I am not ready to go home for a month and leave everyone. I love my family, but I also love my friends and feel like school has taken up a lot of time this semester. I am taking biochemistry, and it is way harder than I was expecting. It has consumed my time as I have tried to memorize as much information as I could for the exams. It doesn’t help that as I want to spend more time with friends, finals are beginning, so our time together better revolve around studying because otherwise it will be a rough time during finals.

Overall, school is different than I expected it to be. It has been difficult, but I know when I finally get to use all of my schooling in my work, it will be well worth it.
