Schubot Sponsors the 2025 Ecological Integration Symposium
The Schubot Center for Avian Health proudly supported the 25th Annual Ecological Integration Symposium (EIS) at Texas A&M University, hosted by the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program on March 20-21, 2025. This event brings together top scientists and students to share research in ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation.

One standout project at EIS was led by Mycha Van Allen, a Schubot Center PhD student, funded by a Schubot mini-grant. Her team has been studying Rickettsia spp. in Brown-headed Cowbirds (Molothrus ater) and their ectoparasites. Undergraduate researchers Haydee Montemayor ’24, Elizabeth De Hoyos ’27, and Omid Almozafar ’27, through the Aggie Research Program, gained hands-on experience in lab techniques and research skills. Their hard work paid off with a successful presentation of preliminary findings—marking their first conference experience!
We’re proud to support research that advances avian health and conservation. The EIS provides a vital platform for young scientists, and we’re excited to see the impact of their work!
