Intern Profiles Five STJR Graduates
Texas A&M graduate Riley Farrell has profiled five graduates of the Texas A&M University master’s degree program in science and technology journalism (STJR). Farrell, who now attends the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, prepared the profiles as an internship project while an undergraduate at Texas A&M University. The project honors the 25th birthday of the STJR program, which the first students entered in 1996.
For the project, Farrell profiled graduates Linda Wang, Barbara Mendoza, Claire Waters, Gina Wadas, and Omar Fabian, whose dates of STJR graduation spanned 2001 to 2016. The graduates came from a variety of backgrounds, including science and journalism. They have been pursuing science communication careers in a variety of sectors, including academia and industry.
Farrell prepared the profiles as a journalism intern supervised by Dr. Barbara Gastel, who coordinates the STJR program. The profiles include multimedia components.
The STJR program thanks Farrell for preparing the profiles. It also thanks for the five graduates for being interviewed.
