Dr. Sebastian Fugmann Visits CVM, VTPB, and Our Lab
June 12th, 2015: With the support of Dr. Tiffany Yu and the Taiwanese Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr. Sebastian Fugmann visited the lab and gave a great talk in VTPB on the evolution of immunoglobulin gene diversification mechanisms in deuterostomes. He also got to reunite with his old Yale pal, Koichi.
Dr. Pierette Appasamy Visits Our Lab
May 19th, 2015: Dr. Pierette Appasamy of Chatham University won a grant to visit us and learn our Xenopus larval thymectomy technique. I think we learned much more from her!

September 9th, 2014: We celebrated the life of our lab mate, colleague, fallen Aggie, and friend, Dr. Ashley Peterson, with a dinner before she was honored at Silver Taps.
Mike Honored in Brazil; A New Collaboration Begins
June 18th, 2014: Mike was honored by the Instituto de Ciencias Biologicas at the Universidade Federal do Para in Brazil. We are very excited about our new collaboration with Leo Sena (far left) and others studying the immunogenetics of Amazonian aquatic mammals!
Thad Wins Travel Award
June 2nd, 2014: Thad won a travel award to present at the North American Comparative Immunology Workshop in Albuquerque! Here he is with our longtime friend and collaborator Yuko Ohta from the University of Maryland.
Sara Graduates
May 10th, 2014: Sara was hooded at May graduation! We are so proud of the first PhD student to be recruited into and finish in the Comparative Immunogenetics Lab!
Matt Presents A&M Consolidated High School Research Findings
May 3rd, 2014: Matt was one of four high school teachers in the country to present his and his students’ research at the American Association of Immunologists Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, where it was very well received. Way to go Matt and A&M Consolidated High School Advanced Biotechnology!
Mike and Thad Receive Awards at Annual CVM Honors Ceremony
April 4th, 2014: Mike received the Outstanding Research Achievement Award for the papers and grants of 2013…Thanks, Lab, for making me look good! Thad received the 2014 John Paul Deleplane Award for Graduate Research in Cattle! Way to go Thad!
Ashley Wins AVMF/AVMA Research Scholarship
March 28th, 2014: Ashley’s work last summer with the VMSRTP and a grant proposal have won her an AVMF/AVMA scholarship to continue her work this summer!
