Molecular Cytogenetics Lab

The Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory in the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences (VIBS) at the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) performs a wide range of cytogenetic, molecular, and DNA-based testing for clinical and research facilities, private companies, veterinarians, breeders, and animal owners.

Notice!

Due to cost increases for all consumables and chemicals, cytogenetics and FKBP6 genotyping service prices were adjusted as of September 1, 2025.

Services

For chromosome analysis, we use both traditional and state-of-the-art techniques and carry out tests for all domestic animals and a broad range of wild species, including non-mammalian vertebrates. Analyses are done either for a fee or on a collaborative basis.

Karyotyping

From blood, tissues, and cell lines with routine staining or G-banding of chromosomes

FISH Analysis

Molecular cytogenetic analysis using Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH)

Cytogenetics specialists analyze chromosome abnormalities using

FKBP6 Genotyping

Testing for Thoroughbred stallion subfertility from blood or hair follicles
