The Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory at the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS)
performs a wide range of cytogenetic, molecular, and DNA-based testing for clinical and research facilities,
private companies, veterinarians, breeders, and animal owners.

NOTICE

Due to Holidays, the last day to receive samples for cytogenetic analysis or FKBP6 genotyping is Friday December 15, 2023. Cytogenetic and genotyping services will resume on Monday January 8, 2024.

Happy Holidays!

For chromosome analysis, we use both traditional and state-of-the-art techniques and carry out tests for all domestic animals and a broad range of wild species, including non-mammalian vertebrates. Analyses are done either for a fee or on a collaborative basis.

Available Services:

  • Karyotyping from blood, tissues and cell lines
  • Karyotyping with routine staining or G-banding of chromosomes
  • Molecular cytogenetic analysis using Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH)
