At the CVM, he will primarily focus on directing the VTPB’s veterinary parasitology diagnostic laboratory, teaching in the professional program, and continuing to pursue his research on helminth parasites, on which he has published extensively.

Verocai earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and master’s degrees from the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and his doctorate degree from the University of Calgary, Canada.

He also completed postdoctoral research training at the University of South Florida and is a Diplomate in Parasitology of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists.

Verocai is a leader in establishing and coordinating VetPDx, a collaborative network of 60 veterinary parasitology diagnostic laboratories in the U.S., Canada, and several Caribbean countries.

He is looking forward to building new research and teaching collaborations within the college and across the campus.
