Biography
Dr. Ashley Seabury is a native of West Virginia and earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from West Virginia University in 2001. She went on to complete her PhD in Genetics at Texas A&M University in 2005. Following her doctoral training, she spent five years as a laboratory supervisor and postdoctoral fellow conducting comparative genomics research. During this time, she was awarded a prestigious USDA Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Her postdoctoral experiences in grantsmanship, research compliance, teaching, and mentorship ultimately shaped her decision to pursue a career in higher education administration.
In 2010, Dr. Seabury joined the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) as a Program Coordinator for Research and Graduate Studies and was promoted to Program Manager in 2014. In 2021, she transitioned into her current role, where she serves as Director of the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program and leads efforts to enhance and elevate the graduate student educational experience within VMBS. Her work focuses on ensuring that graduate education extends beyond the classroom by integrating robust student success initiatives, wellness programming, and comprehensive professional development opportunities that prepare students for a wide range of career paths.
Dr. Seabury is committed to fostering a supportive, student-centered environment that empowers graduate students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. She oversees a team of professionals with deep expertise in graduate education who are dedicated to supporting both students and faculty, while also connecting students with meaningful resources and services across Texas A&M University. Through this work, she helps ensure that students are not only supported, but fully engaged in a holistic and enriching educational experience.
In addition to her work in graduate education, Dr. Seabury remains actively engaged in supporting the college’s research mission. She contributes to faculty success by coordinating internal grant programs, managing research space assignments, and serving as a liaison with the Office of Biosafety and Compliance and Sponsored Research Services. Most recently, she has begun building a team to provide Faculty Research Support Services within the college, further strengthening research infrastructure and support.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their two children, Wyatt and Brooke. She is a fan of “fancy coffee” and iced tea, relaxing pedicures, and getting lost in a good book. Her favorite part of her work is empowering graduate students to recognize the full range of opportunities their degrees can provide and helping them achieve their goals.
