Schubot Center Hosts ANSC 404 Students for Avian Enrichment Activities

The Schubot Center was pleased to host two sections of Texas A&M University’s ANSC 404 course, Behavior and Management of Domestic Animals, instructed by Dr. Courtney Daigle. This marks the 4th year of this wonderful collaboration!

After an engaging lecture and presentations, students took part in a guided tour of the Schubot aviary, where they learned about the importance of enrichment in avian care. As a hands-on component of their visit, students created approximately 250 enrichment items for the birds at the aviary! These activities not only benefited the birds but also gave students practical experience in designing enrichment that promotes natural behaviors and enhances animal welfare.

We are grateful to Dr. Daigle and her students for their enthusiasm and contributions, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come!
