Schubot Center streamed on KAMU TV’s “Texas A&M Today” series.

The Schubot Center for Avian Health was streamed on the second episode of “Texas A&M Today”, a production of KAMU TV FM, the public media for Texas A&M University, and the Brazos Valley that is part of the Division of Marketing and Communications at Texas A&M University.

This original production is a six-episode series that aims to show the influence of A&M’ in our region, in Texas, and on our planet. It started airing this past September 26th, each Monday at 9 pm and Saturday at 6 pm and it will continue throughout the fall. It highlights the most outstanding of Texas A&M University

In this second episode, Dr. Sarah Hamer, Schubot Center Director, and MSc Debra Turner, Schubot aviary manager, go through the mission and the vision of the center as well as how it integrates into the “One Health” approach and how it is giving new generations of Aggies the chance to gain hands-on experience working and caring for wild birds and exotic birds. Dr. Hamer emphasizes the importance of understanding what makes birds healthy not just from an animal welfare perspective but also as a way to improve our own lives. Also, Ph.D. Candidate Meredith Anderson talks about the impact of climate change on wild bird populations while giving us a short tour of her field research.

It has been a tremendous honor for the Schubot Center to be part of the “Texas A&M Today.”
