CVM Welcomes DVM Class of 2022

Dean welcoming DVM class of 2022
Dr. Eleanor Green, the Carl B. King Dean of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University, welcomes students during the Class of 2022’s first-year orientation.

Days before their peers returned to campus, the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences’ (CVM) newest veterinary students in the Class of 2022 arrived the Veterinary & Biomedical Education Complex (VBEC) for three days of getting to know each other, the facilities, and the faculty and administration.

During the CVM Class of 2022 Orientation, Aug. 15-17, the 152 incoming veterinary students were able to participate in activities that helped them acclimate to live at the CVM, both professionally and personally.

Following a welcome by Dr. Kenita Rogers, executive associate dean, and Dr. Karen Cornell, associate dean for professional programs, students were led in sessions on the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum, student resources, lifelong learning, mentorship, financial aid, personal financial management, and time management, among others.

Student-led presentations included stress management, DVM clubs, and a panel discussion on “A day in the life of a vet student.”

On the last day, the students received their stethoscopes, presented by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) and the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF).
