Texas A&M Students Receive Zoetis Veterinary Student Scholarships
Thirteen Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVM) students have been awarded a 2018 Zoetis Veterinary Student Scholarship.
Kameron Soules, Victoria Kocsis, Pamela May, Cebrina Cavazos, Jillian Athey, Taylor Owens, Wendy Garcia, Nicole Copeland, Cassandra Burghardt, Katrina Luu, Michelle Morelli, Natalie Castell, and Jivanni Shah are among the 315 students from across the United States and the Caribbean to receive the award.
The recipients’ names were displayed at the Zoetis Booth during the Student American Veterinary Medical Association Convention and were announced March 19.
Now in its eighth year, the Veterinary Student Scholarship Award operates as part of Zoetis Commitment to Veterinarians™, a platform created by Zoetis to support leadership and diversity among future veterinarians, while also helping to offset the significant costs associated with a veterinary education.
More than 1,700 second- and third-year veterinary students applied for the 2018 Zoetis Veterinary Student Scholars Award, which offers recipients in all areas of professional interest—including food animal medicine, small animal clinical medicine, research, government services, public health, and organized veterinary medicine—$2,000 for the upcoming 2018-2019 academic year. In total, $630,000 in scholarships were awarded, which represents more than $6 million given for scholarships since the award’s inception.
Eligibility criteria include academic excellence, financial need, diversity, sustainability, leadership, and career interest.
