VERO’s Outreach Focus

students listen to a teacher at a livestock arenaAt the very heart of VERO is its robust outreach mission, which includes programs for secondary and undergraduate students as well as livestock workers. Working with faculty from the Paul Engler College of Agriculture & Natural Sciences at West Texas A&M University (WT), VERO will develop a seamless, overarching educational program to serve the region’s rural community, their children, and their employees.

  • VERO offers programs to contribute to the livestock and veterinary career education of 4-H and FFA students, as well as their leaders, agents, and teachers.
  • VERO faculty provide mentorship of pre-veterinary students at WT and other regional colleges and universities.
  • VERO will expand its outreach mission to provide livestock worker training and veterinary continuing education (CE) in the areas of production management, livestock well-being, and safety. Training programs will include certifications as appropriate.

Established in 2009, VERO is the partnership between the Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS)
and the West Texas A&M University (WT) Paul Engler College of Agriculture & Natural Sciences
to bring Veterinary Education, Research, & Outreach to the Texas Panhandle.
