Macaws vs. Monkeys?

For the first time ever, we’ve captured a Spider Monkey harassing a family of Scarlet Macaws on video!

There’s no evidence that Spider Monkeys are predators of macaws, so we’re puzzled about the monkey’s motives. However, these brave reintroduced macaws at Bosque Escondido, Costa Rica, seem more than ready to stand their ground and protect their chick. The fledgling (in the middle) can fly, so it’s a mystery why the family of macaws didn’t just take off from the pesky monkey.

Always learning in nature!
