Reintroduced Macaws are checking nest cavities at Bosque Escondido, Costa Rica
Time to check nests and secure the best cavity! At Bosque Escondido, Costa Rica, reintroduced Scarlet macaw pairs are scouting options for the season.
Our studies in the Reserva Nacional Tambopata – Sernanp, Peru, showed that wild macaws guard the most successful nests from last season. Experienced pairs defend the top spots, while younger ones take what they can. But eventually, younger, stronger pairs take over. It’s a jungle out there!
Huge thanks to Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center- zoave on their hard work in helping recover endangered species in Costa Rica.
