Dr. Keerthi Bandaru

Dr. Keerthi Bandaru is originally from India, she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Master’s degrees at Sri Venkateswara Veterinary university in India. After earning her DVM, she completed both large and small animal practice internships, then joined a Master’s program and worked on Canine Distemper Virus, her work focused on molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis. Following completion of her Master’s degree, Keerthi worked as a Veterinary doctor for three years. She joined the TAMU Gastrointestinal Laboratory to pursue her PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Emily Gould, and her graduate research is focused on the pH independent effects of acid suppressant medications. Her research explores the immunomodulatory effects of these drugs in dogs, both ex-vivo and in-vivo. She is passionate about the Veterinary Science, Immunology, and she finds joy in the art of photography.
