BIMS Writing Courses

The requirement may be met by passing two writing courses or one writing course and one oral communication course in the student’s major.

The requirement may not be met by any course listed as a University Core Curriculum communication requirement, nor may it be met through credit by examination.

  • BIOL 402: Communicating Biological Research to the Public (Available only through Summer 2024)
  • BIOL 403: Medical Narratives (Starting Fall 23) (Available only through Summer 2024)
  • VIBS 301: Biomedical Writing (Available beginning Fall 2024)
  • VIBS 311: Biomedical Explorations through Narrative (Available beginning Fall 2024)
  • VIBS 443: Biology of Mammalian Cells & Tissues (4 hours – Spring Only)
  • VTPP 491: Research*
  • UGST 405: Thesis Writing* (Launch – Honors Program)

  • BIMS 481: Seminar in Biomedical Sciences (Prerequisite: VIBS 310 OR VIBS 311)
