Q-Drops

Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) Q-Drop Procedures

Schedule a Q-Drop Appointment with a BIMS advisor in Navigate.

A Q-drop request should not be submitted in Howdy until you have met with a member of the BIMS advising team and spoken with Financial Aid, if applicable: (979) 845-3236.

Note: Once submitted by you, and processed by an advisor, a Q-drop cannot be reversed, and the course cannot be added back to your schedule.

We highly recommend finishing courses in which you are making a C or better. When making a D or an F in a course, it is reasonable to consider dropping.

If you have discussed the Q-Drop with a BIMS academic advisor and Financial Aid, please complete a Q-Drop request through your My Dashboard tab in Howdy under My Requests.

Submitting a Q-Drop request does not guarantee that the course will be dropped. This may include but is not limited to situations when a request is submitted past the deadline or when academic dishonesty may affect the grade in the class you are attempting to drop.

Special Considerations

  • Q-Dropping may adversely impact financial aid, eligibility for tuition rebate, eligibility as a dependent for insurance coverage, veteran’s benefits, athletic eligibility, scholastic probation, eligibility for extracurricular activities and some types of employment, etc.
  • Student-athletes (including practice players, managers, and trainers) need to follow guidance from Athletics on drop procedures. Please follow this guide and leave extra time for signature routing.
  • International students need to receive prior approval from International Student Services before dropping below full-time.
