FM 1488 Animal Medical Center is a small animal hospital dedicated to the care of cats and dogs exclusively. We are located in the southwest corner of Montgomery County which is situated just northwest of Houston and a direct neighbor to The Woodlands (home of an ExxonMobil Campus). Our desirable location puts you close to the city with all the comforts of a suburban neighborhood.
Clientele is predominantly college educated working professionals who care deeply for their pets and often treat them as family members. Our clientele makes caring and treating their pets an easier task than most as they often approve the treatment plans we recommend along with the costs associated with those recommendations.
We are very proud of our AAHA certification we have maintained since 2015 and our state of the art facility. As an AAHA facility we provide our associates with state of the art equipment that allows them to diagnose and treat their patients according to the most current industry standards of care. This includes 6 exam rooms, two surgery suites, two treatment areas, a dedicated dental suite, and most recently a rehabilitation center. Our equipment includes Digital Radiology, Digital Dental Radiology, In House Chemistry, CBC, U/A analyzers, Cutting Edge Class IV and MR4 Activet Laser, Dentalaire dental machines, Shepherd Practice Management software, My Lab ultrasound, Baja warmers, IV Fluid pumps, IV Fluid warmers and more.
Associates can expect a competitive compensation plan, Simple IRA with 3% matching, paid time off, Group Health Insurance, Generous CE allowance, VIN Membership, licensing fees, and two veterinary association dues.
We believe strongly in developing and maintaining a strong support staff for our associates. This includes investment in a professional development plan for each of our employees. This allows us to move employees from Veterinary Assistant to Certified Veterinary Assistant and from Veterinary Technician to Licensed Veterinary Technician. We strive to provide 4 to 4.5 support staff per shift to all of our associates.
TAMU Students doing externships can expect to have a interactive experience with as much hands on training as possible. We offer more than shadowing to assist in your classroom education as much as possible. You can plan to work two shifts with each of our staff veterinarians doing one surgical rotation and one exam room rotation per veterinarian totaling 8 shits over a two week period.
