“Macaw Tails” is The Macaw Society newsletter. It was created by Shannan Courtney during her time as an field leader assistant of our Tambopata team back in 2018.
Our objective with “Macaw tails” was to created a channel to share stories from the field in an amenable way with the general public. In these stories, we gave updates of our parrot research projects and share stories from our team members so the reader could see how it was to be part of our field team. From January 2028 to May 2019, we released 6 editions.
During the initial peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, back in 2020, our field leader Roshan Tailor took the lead and wrote the “Act for the Amazon” editions. These three editions summarize the incredible challenges the Amazon rainforest are currently facing and how we can contribute to preserved it.
Now a days, our main way to share our stories from the field and research findings is though The Macaw Society Facebook account. However, we are working on a bringing “Macaw Tails” back to life in a yearly edition that sumamries our work in all our field locations.
