Association of Asian Veterinary Medical Professionals (AAVMP)

Texas A&M Student Chapter of the Association of Asian Veterinary Medical Professionals (SCAAVMP)

Purpose

To inspire, empower, and support Asian veterinary professionals from within our student body and college.

About

What is AAVMP? The Association of Asian Veterinary Medical Professionals (AAVMP) was founded in 2020 by two veterinary students amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization strives to create a community for Asian veterinary professionals and to establish a veterinary field that reflects the diverse communities that we serve.

Why should you join AAVMP?

Whether you are of Asian descent and looking to find a community that will empower you, or an ally interested in supporting your AAPI colleagues and educating yourself about different cultures and how they influence veterinary medicine, this is the club for you!

National Organization

The AAVMP was created to build a community for Asian veterinary professionals and to establish a veterinary field that reflects the diverse communities that we serve. Visit the AAVMP website.

Our core values are:

  • Representation: To increase visibility of Asian professionals within the veterinary community, to encourage equal representation of Asians in leadership positions, and to motivate future generations of Asian veterinary professionals.
  • Mentorship: To foster success for Asian pre-veterinary and veterinary professionals by offering support and guidance with consideration of individual cultural backgrounds.
  • Advocacy: To advocate for the needs of our members within the veterinary profession, to provide information about minority struggles within the profession, and to emphasize the value of diversity in a community.
  • Fellowship: To unite and support the Asian veterinary community and to demonstrate our allyship alongside other affinity organizations.

Schedule

We aim to host at least one meeting every month, typically in partnership with another club. Follow us on Instagram to stay up to date on upcoming meetings, fundraisers, and events!
