Seeking Full-Time Veterinarians
Harris County Pets, part of Harris County Public Health, is dedicated to animal welfare and community health. We provide essential services such as pet adoptions, vaccinations, spay/neuter programs, and animal care education. Our mission is to improve the lives of animals and foster a compassionate connection between pets and people by promoting responsible pet ownership, reducing animal overpopulation, and enhancing public health.
We are currently hiring for two impactful veterinary roles:
- Wellness Veterinarian: Provide preventive care and sterilization surgeries for publicly owned pets, helping animals stay healthy and find loving homes.
- Shelter Medicine Veterinarian: Care for underserved animals through shelter medicine, making a difference for vulnerable populations.
Requirements: - DVM / VMD / or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited School of Veterinary Medicine, or candidates graduating with a doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M./V.M.D.) from an accredited school by the hire date.
- Valid license to practice veterinary medicine issued by the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners or the ability to obtain one by the hire date.
- At least six (6) months of surgical experience in spaying and neutering dogs and cats.
