Texas A&M Student Veterinary Imaging Club (SVIC)
Mission
The Texas A&M Student Veterinary Imaging Club (SVIC) seeks to provide members with significant learning opportunities in this challenging yet rewarding area of veterinary medicine utilizing imaging modalities such as radiology, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and nuclear scintigraphy which have an extensive capacity to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in veterinary patients.
About
We’re committed to advancing the knowledge, education and awareness of veterinary diagnostic imaging among veterinarians, students and the public. Proficiency in veterinary diagnostic imaging is an essential part of small-animal, large-animal, and mixed-animal medicine, which is why every veterinary student should consider joining the Veterinary Imaging Club!
Our club began in 2011–12. As a member of the SVIC, students will get the opportunity to participate in many activities throughout the school year, including:
- Monthly club meetings, where our focus is to have exceptional speakers discuss exciting and relevant topics in the field of veterinary diagnostic imaging and
- Hands-on learning opportunities throughout the year for students to practice performing imaging-related technical skills, including ultrasound examination, under the direct supervision and guidance of veterinarians and trained technicians.
